Through the National Lottery, we have received Reaching Communities funding for three years to help us grow and develop our One Pot Wonder catering service. This enables WAC to provide valuable training for volunteers, as they learn cookery, order taking, order maintenance, packaging and labelling and customer service, along with IT and social media skills. Ultimately, the funding also helps WAC to provide healthy, affordable, delicious meals for the community at reasonable and affordable costs.
WAC’s popular Repair Cafe is funded by The Henry Smith Charity. Participants learn a variety of manual skills, and work to produce craft and artisan wooden items that are then sold to help generate an income. The aim is to develop a permanent training schedule and rewards scheme for our volunteers. Through our Repair Cafe, we discover people’s hidden abilities and talents that can help them believe in themselves.
Cornwall Community Foundation has generously supported us with many of our Family Cook-Along workshops, as well as the very popular “Engaging with Nature” youth workshops over the years.
Volunteer Cornwall on behalf of NHS Cornwall & Isles of Scilly has provided funding to the Community Hub Network in order to provide Warmth Banks throughout Cornwall, and we are pleased that WAC is one of those Warmth Banks. With rising energy costs, we know that local residents will find it difficult to keep warm this winter. Anyone is welcome to come to WAC on a Friday to stay warm and get a free hearty and healthy meal.
The European Regional Development Fund is funding our new Community Hub, match-funded with Cornwall Council. Visit our ERDF Funding page for more details.
Thanks to generous funding provided through the Resilient Community Fund and with the help of Curry’s Penzance, we were able to source and distribute more than 50 top-notch Tefal air fryers to help save on energy bills.
