Who We Are
Here is a bit about us, but we would love to get to know you and who you are.
Come and visit us in our warm, inclusive, judgement-free Treneere Community Hub and just be who you are.
At Whole Again Communities (WAC), our mission is to foster healthier communities by encouraging and supporting individuals in learning the art of cooking nutritious, affordable meals from scratch. By empowering people to embrace healthy eating habits at home, WAC aims to create a positive impact on their overall well-being.
Established by Lizzie Sullivan in 2013, our organisation is built upon the principles of the Stone Soup Story. Lizzie initially started by conducting workshops tailored for women who were living on a limited budget but had a strong interest in adopting a healthy eating lifestyle. The overwhelming success of these workshops led to the creation of the weekly Open House.
In January 2016, we took a significant step forward by acquiring our own venue, enabling us to expand our services to include a wider range of workshops, catering for external events, and venue rental.
Our community space, consisting of two portacabins that were falling into disrepair, underwent an extensive, fully grant-funded rebuild, allowing our organisation to grow.
What started with one woman, cycling all over Penzance, selling flasks of homemade soup as an alternative to (at the time) beige food and meal deals, has now grown into a female-led organisation with six part-time members of staff and many volunteers.
Our successful catering service is taking a short break while we are finding the best way to serve our community with the existing staff and funding available.
Every penny we receive, be it through grant funding, donations or food sales, will go back into the Treneere Community Hub, to enable us to help volunteers improve their confidence and explore their entrepreneurial spirit, learn kitchen skills and generally improve their wellbeing, but also to assist with catering and or/a free room for all kinds of celebrations from the cradle to the grave.
Our services currently consist of:
♥ Health and Wellbeing Hub - Open House Tuesday/Wednesday / Thursday / Friday with free food, phone charging facilities and opportunities to socialise.
♥ WAC Workshops
♥ Volunteering Opportunities
♥ Some catering upon request
